Give a warm Megaphone welcome to Rosie!

Rosie first came to Canada in 2004 from the Philippines after struggling to find work as a caregiver in her home country.

Upon arriving in Canada, Rosie first settled in Maple Ridge, where she began working four jobs as a blueberry picker, an A&W worker, a house cleaner and a personal assistant. In 2021, after years of being a loyal Megaphone customer, she brought her incredible passion and warmth to the organization, signing on to become a vendor.

Rosie, who has been diagnosed with bipolar type 1, is a strong advocate for breaking down the stigma around mental illness. Rosie is also a beloved member amongst her church community, the Coast Resource Centre’s Clubhouse and at Megaphone.

Rosie sells Megaphone magazine to members of her church and at the Coast Resource Centre.

She credits God, her wonderful husband and the big Megaphone family for giving her strength.

Say hello to Rosie if you see her around town!

What Sets our Newsroom Apart

Rooted in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, we're committed to amplifying voices that are overlooked by mainstream media. We’re actively growing our team of storytellers and journalists to serve our community.

More about our Peer Newsroom

“Why "The Shift?" So the framework of Megaphone magazine can “shift” to being a more inclusive street paper, empowering those with lived and living experience to tell the stories that matter the most to them and their communities.”
